The history of Tenute Gregu began long ago, when, in the early twenties of the XX century, in the land of Barbagia, the family Gregu started working for more than ninety years to growing grapes and producing wine. Since then, the life of family Gregu and viticulture followed different ways, but the link with the land and the wine has never been lost. In time, these roots have gained strength and awareness, ready to become a solid link where to grow up young grapevines. Today this relationship becomes more intense and vibrant, thanks to the initiative of the new generations of the family. The younger and enterprising sons who resettled in Gallura resumed the origins of the family, the lessons of the ancestors and the Sardinian wine tradition, putting them together into a new vision of a wine project that wants to be a sign of tradition and innovation, quality and excellence in the production of grapes typical of Gallura, first of all the wine Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG. This is a challenge that the family Gregu deals with a mind that is young but rooted at the same time in the traditional Sardinian wine, a link with the land that continues and is renewed. The land of Tenute Gregu cover an area of about 50 acres in the countryside of Calangianus, in the region of Gallura, on a granite weak ground about 500 meters above sea level. Combined with a special microclimate, such characteristics make this area ideal for growing grapes, giving our wines exceptional shades and intense aromas. This is a unique and pristine environment near the Mountains of Limbara, also known for the regional park Limbara, between olive and cork trees surrounded by scents of wild mint, wild strawberries and myrtle, where mouflons, deer and golden eagles live together in harmony. The vineyard area covers about 30 acres divided into two large plots with different altitude, exposure and microclimate, so giving several different shades to main grape of Gallura, the Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG, which represents 85% of the cultivated area.
