Tenuta delle Ripalte

La Fattoria delle Ripalte was founded in 1896 by Count Tobler, a Swiss nobleman, who wanted to make his passion come true: the cultivation of vine and the production of great wines. The entire district (420 hectares) also known as the biggest farm in Elba, was abandoned by the successive owners who used the lands as a game reserve. The old reputation of the land continued, and in 2002 the current owner decided to improve the wine making aspect of the land: 13 hectares of new vines were planted in the best spots of the estate. More than half of the production comes from Aleatico grapes, the most prestigious and characteristic Vine of Elba. The vineyard is planted in difficult soil, stony and highly drained: the vine does not produce a lot of grapes, but their quality is very high. No chemicals are used due to the plant protection treatments and the fertilization is limited and organic.
