Nord Ovest Sardegna
La Nurra, Mejlogu, Logudoro, La Romangia and L'Anglona: these are historic regions of north-western part of Sardinia, including the main historical and archaeological sites of the area, a territory that played a central role in the events that occurred in the past century in the Mediterranean. Starting our hypothetical tour around the city of Alghero, we can choose either the natural wonders of the coast of Capo Caccia and rocky terrains, including the Grotta di Nettuno in the national park, which contains the woods and an oasis of wildlife, or we can make the leap into the era of ancient history, visit the nuragic Palmavera and the Necropolis of Anghelu Ruju, the latter is adjacent to the farm Sella & Mosca - a major winery, which will be mentioned later, and whose name comes from the sweet wine of its huge production. You should also visit the city of Alghero, with its massive ramparts of Capo Caccia with sea-views and its picturesque old town with narrow streets, reminiscent of Barceloneta, with a lot of jewelry shops and workshops that directly produce and sell coral jewelry and gold jewelry. A small subway system around the city of Sassari which embraces Porto Torres Sorso and Sennori is characterized by activity events associated with the agricultural sector, famous for fruit and vegetables, but most of all great wines. Located on a hill and bowed slightly to the sea Sassari is full of places worthy of even a fleeting glance, such as the Palazzo Ducale Pinacoteca Mus'A; beautiful Piazza Tola, the palace Usini, the public library and a monument dedicated to Pasquale Tola; the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, the church of St. Catherine and St. Mary of Bethlehem; Rosello Fountain; Museo della Brigata Sassari National Museum "Giovanni Antonio Sanna"; outside the city, along the road that connects Porto Torres, there is the Historical Park (Sardegna romana) and the Museum of «Ad Signa Milites», the famous archaeological site of Monte-Accoddi, as a megalithic altar to the prenuragic era, a unique example of the Mediterranean "ziqqurat" architecture; Porto Torres with the access to the sea from the Roman ruins and archaeological sites of "Palace of King Barbaro" and the Basilica of San Gavino, unique in Sardinia. This part of the territory is characterized by the coastal strip with a sandy beach, which begins in Stintino, port Asinara of the National Park, and continues almost ceaselessly to Castelsardo. It is considered one of the most beautiful provinces in Italy and is famous for its old town; around the castle there is a museum dell'Intreccio, the ancient stronghold of the powerful Doria family; the Romangia area with centers in Sorso and Sennori, from Anglona to Valledoria has a rich history of prenuragic antiquity with Domus de Janas in Sedini and Roccia dell'Elefante to medieval times, with churches of N. Signora di Tergu and Cattedrale, dedicated to S. Antonio Abate in Castelsardo, which also has the famous Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art. These areas are also important for agricultural production, as well as numerous vineyards, visible on the hills that descend down to the sea.
