In 1331 the Florentines destroyed the village of Vivinaja, which was protected by a fortress with the same name. Promptly rebuilt and fortified the place was dedicated to Charles IV of Bohemia, a Lycian supporter, who changed the name of the borough into Monte Carlo and focused on the defense of Lucca. Now they are quiet peaceful streets of the province, where you can listen to good music in a tiny Rassicurati theater of the eighteenth century and enjoy a panoramic view of a hill surrounded by beautiful vineyards where excellent wines are produced.
